Neon Piñata
Neon Piñata
Neon Piñata "Caballito"
This piñata "caballito" (little horse) was inspired when I was sharing a studio space with Chicano artist Frank Romero. I am in awe of his creativity—his bold use of color, his celebration of Los Angeles culture, and his ability to transform everyday objects into iconic art.
The piñata is the elephant in the room. Its mere presence can be seen as both protest and celebration. My piñatas inhabit spaces where no one expects to see them. Yet they stand comfortably, embracing their new surroundings.
This neon interpretation transforms childhood joy into contemporary art. The color-changing neon cycles through red, green, and blue with adjustable speed, creating an ever-changing piece that's never the same twice—a tribute to the dynamic energy Frank brought to our shared creative space.
