Portrait of Miguelito
Portrait of Miguelito
Oil on wood panel. 5”x5”x1.5”. 2025. Signed on back/side.
Miguelito is a Chicano boy dressed as his favorite cartoon character—reaching for magic.
Disney is America. The dream wrapped in mouse ears. But Miguelito lives in-between, not fully American, not fully Mexican.
When he dresses up as Mickey Mouse, he transforms it. His heritage seeps through the corporate paint. The icon becomes his own—something new that only exists in the space between two worlds.
