Laguna Beach, CA - Original Plein Air Painting

$500.00

Laguna Beach, CA

Painted on location in Laguna Beach on August 30, 2025. This plein air landscape captures the dramatic coastline where rolling hills meet the Pacific Ocean—the interplay of light on water, the texture of coastal rocks, and the vibrant greens of California's coastal vegetation.

Plein air painting allows me to work directly from life, responding to the changing light and atmosphere of a place. This piece documents a specific moment in time at one of California's most beautiful coastal locations.

Working in the style of realism and impressionism, I use bold, expressive brushwork to convey the energy and movement of the landscape. The thick application of paint creates texture and depth, inviting viewers to experience the scene as I did—standing before it with brush in hand.

✦ ABOUT PLEIN AIR PAINTING

Plein air (French for "open air") is the practice of painting outdoors, directly from observation. This approach captures the true colors, light, and atmosphere of a location in a way that studio work cannot replicate. Each plein air piece is a unique record of a specific time and place.

✦ ABOUT MY LANDSCAPE WORK

Through still lifes, landscapes, and portraiture, I document the ever-changing landscape of California. While much of my work focuses on East L.A., these coastal studies expand my practice to capture the diverse beauty of Southern California.
