Miki Piñata - Original Sculpture

$500.00

Mickey Piñata

Mickey Mouse reimagined as a piñata—American pop culture icon transformed through the lens of Mexican celebration tradition. This hand-painted wood sculpture brings together two cultural worlds: Disney's promise of joy and the piñata's role in our community gatherings.

The piñata is the elephant in the room. Its mere presence can be seen as both protest and celebration. My piñatas inhabit spaces where no one expects to see them. Yet they stand comfortably, embracing their new surroundings.

Mickey represents the American dreams sold to immigrant families—entertainment, happiness, success. By rendering him as a piñata, I honor my Mexican heritage while claiming space in American culture. The piece celebrates the fusion of both identities.
