Fabuloso - Original Oil Painting

$4,500.00

Fabuloso

Vibrant orange marigolds burst from a repurposed Fabuloso bottle, resting on a traditional Mexican serape blanket. This still life celebrates the objects that make a house a Mexican-American home—cleaning supplies transformed into vessels of beauty, marigolds honoring tradition, textiles carrying cultural memory.

I honor my mother and others like her. Her story represents so many who immigrated from Mexico to the United States, learned a new language and a new way of life. She embodies the immigrant spirit. In this painting I bring together my two formative experiences: my life as a first-generation Mexican American and my career as a fine artist.

The purple Fabuloso bottle is instantly recognizable in Latino households—a symbol of cleanliness, home, and care. Paired with marigolds (cempasúchil), sacred flowers of Día de los Muertos, it creates a meditation on memory, daily life, and cultural pride. The vibrant serape adds layers of color and tradition, grounding the composition in Mexican textile heritage.
